Best Ways of Preparing a Salmon Fillet

If you are trying to figure out how to make the best use of the salmon, that you carefully filleted, there is a huge variety to choose from. Salmon is one of the most popular among weekend recipes and there is no short of preparations when it comes to this.

Here are some of the ways you can prepare your salmon fillets.

  • Pan-fried Salmon

This is probably, the easiest preparation of salmon. Simple and crispy, it clings to your taste buds for ages.

Things you will need:


  • 2 Salmon Fillets with skin
  • Sea salt according to taste
  • 2 Tablespoons of olive oil




  • Pour the oil into a skillet and heat till the temperature is medium-high
  • Put the salmon in the skillet with the skin side upwards and wait till the meat is golden-brown. Wait for 5 to 7 minutes and turn the fish. Cook till the skin is brown and wait for 5 more minutes. After removing the fish from the skillet, drain away the oil and put the fillet back on the pan.
  • Remove the skin now and fry it separately, for 2 to 3 minutes. The skin will turn crispy at the end.
  • Serve this skin with the salmon


  • Roasted Salmon


Another way to prepare salmon fillets is to roast them in the oven. This is a quicker method and meant for a larger serving than pan-fried salmons.

Things you will need:

  • Salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper
  • Butter


  • Grease the baking dish with some butter.
  • Season the salmon fillets with some salt and pepper
  • Place it with the skin facing down on the baking dish
  • For 12 to 15 minutes, bake at 400 degrees F. Don’t flip the fish.


  • Broiled Salmon

This recipe is fast and easy to implement. You don’t even need to stray from the kitchen.

Things you will need:

  • Salt for seasoning
  • Salmon fillets


    • Set the oven to broil


  • Season the fish and place it on a sheet pan. You can also use an untreated cedar plank that has been soaked in water.
  • Slide this onto the top rack when the broiler is glowing red. The distance should be 3 inches from the heat source.
  • Check on the fish in 3 minutes. If the outside the done, the inside is probably done as well. Keep the salmon inside for a couple more minutes.


  • Grilled Salmon

The smoky dish is a winter specialty that works equally well for grills and fillets. It is not that difficult to clean up either.

Things you will need:

  • Salmon fillets
  • Olive oil
  • Salt for seasoning



  • Heat the coals first
  • Grease the fillets lightly.
  • Place it skin side down on the coals
  • Flip it after 5 minutes and use the spatula to flip it. If you find it sticking to the grate, wait for a couple more minutes before flipping it.
  • After flipping, cook it for five more minutes and check if it is done



Salmon fillets are easy and quick to cook. Of course, there are more complicated ways to cook salmon. But these are some easily done recipes that will serve well for every purpose.
